"One day we must come to see that peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but that it is a means by which we arrive at that goal.  We must pursue peaceful ends through peaceful means."

5 Talents More

David Anthony Johnson is a professional motivational speaker, inspirational solo artist, orator-specializing in Dr. Martin Luther King speeches, historical story-teller, songwriter, inventor and youth motivator for more than 25 years. His ministry is called, 5 Talents More. He uses his talents to inspire others to use theirs.

David has performed for and has shared the stage with Civil Rights activists such as the late Mrs. Rosa Parks; Mr. Johnnie L. Cochran; Ms. Maya Angelou; Mr. James Meredith (the first Black to break the color barrier at Ole Miss University in 1963); Mr. Julian Bond, former Georgia Senator and colleague of Dr. Martin Luther King; former Negro Leagues and Baseball Hall of Famer, James “Cool Papa” Bell, Singers and actors Brian McKnight, T.C. Carson (of the sitcom Living Single fame) and others to name a few.

David has a wealth of experience in youth motivation. He has spent years motivating young people as a church youth director and leader, as a youth counselor in group homes and as a juvenile probations corrections officer over criminal youth. He has also raised two sons now 27 and 25.

David offers a wide range of programs and services from youth week of prayers and summits, preaching at church functions, Black History and musical concerts with stories of the American slave narratives, singing at weddings and banquets and doing voice-over work and more. David is also in demand as a speaker and singer at many churches, group homes, prisons, universities, colleges, high schools, elementary schools, and military bases to name a few.

As an experienced youth motivator, David sees that many young people have struggles with having healthy self-esteem. As a result, he has seen that many troubled youths are holding their God-given talents hostage because of low self-esteem issues from their childhood. David tries to motivate youth to realize their talents and gifts and then he tries to inspire them to use those gifts and talents positively in our communities.

As a singer and songwriter, David released a CD in 1995 entitled, The More. David helped in the production and he wrote 5 songs for the CD. In 2009, David was awarded a United States Patent for his educational word game, soon to become a mobile application that will help to improve one’s vocabulary and grammar skills and to improve one’s English as a Second Language skills.

David was raised by his great-grandmother, his mother and aunt to realize that God had given him special gifts and talents. They also instilled into him the importance of honoring God with those gifts and talents by helping others to realize and to use their gifts and talents for God’s glory.

David uses his great-grandmother as his biggest inspiration. She taught David the importance of loving his brothers and sisters of all walks of life. She was the daughter of a Tennessee slave. Growing up, he always saw her helping people in many ways at church and in the neighborhood. She inspired David to learn the Dr. Martin Luther King speeches because she said that she admired him for giving up his life for the cause of love, to free his brothers and sisters of all races. She also said “David, if you do not use your talents for God’s glory, you will have to one day answer for it!” So, David makes it his mission to love, lead, inspire and motivate others by example.
